Notice the time~7:10 AM This is our morning so far
5:00 am~Matthew awakens. He is hungry so naturally we fix a bottle. (Note: we have had a touch of the stomach flu. Emma wound up in the ER 2 weeks ago Sunday with dehydration from this bug. Now Matthew has it, needless to say we have had some unpleasantries the last few days. Last night he took about 5 ounces before bed and held it down)
5:15 am - bottle drinking going very well
5:25 am - we hear a weird sound~ Brandon thinks Matthew just spit up but is a false alarm
5:26 am - the light is turned off and then the real thing...all over our bed, Matthew, etc.
5:30 am - Brandon starts the wash with the comforter on super size load
5:31 - the washer is overflowing but we don't notice as we have left the room
6:00 - we emerge to check the computer when Brandon notices a wet spot on the floor...yes it is going to be a lovely morning.
6:45 - we finally have the mess from the washing machine cleaned up when Emma says, "What's that smell?"
6:47 - Brandon yells for me to come here - Matthew has pooped all the way up to his shoulder blades
7:00 - Brandon and I want to go back to bed and hide or have a beer and then realize it is only 7:00 am and we have the whole rest of the day to go...what else could possibly happen???? Stay tuned... *sigh*

Check it off...
Last weekend, the girls and their dad tunneled through the big drift in front of the house. The girls had fun sliding through it. I think Brandon would have tried but he was afraid he would have gotten stuck and ended up a posting on the blog ~true, very true!
Emma getting ready to go through
And finally ~check that off our list. The basement is officially painted! Yippee! Finshed. Done! Hallelujah! Next on the list is staining doors and getting the rest of the outlets wired and then we are ready for CARPET! I told Emma if she was lucky she would be able to have her birthday party down there. I can't wait to have it done!

Stripe madness
I had a moment of madness...I decided to paint stripes on the wall in the basement. This will be the playroom for the kids. I am really pleased with how the stripes turned out. We didn't even have much paint that leaked under the tape. The other picture shows the space where the office will be. I painted the wall the chocolate brown to accent the stripes. The rest of the walls are going to be taupe. Leave a message and let me know what you think. A big thank you to Aunt Betsy for helping all day! She is the master at edging the ceiling. A professional couldn't have done better!

The long and short of it
Whoa...2 postings in one day! I mustn't outdo myself! Ha! Emma decided a couple of weeks ago that she was tired of the snarls in her long hair. I tried to get her to comb her hair when she got home from school. I might as well have saved my breath...it didn't seem to register. Sooo, today we visited Anita, our favorite hair stylist. Em is looking very stylish in a chin length bob with a slight stack in the back.

Week in review.
Yet another exciting week in the books. Here are the highlights from the past week.
- Daycare struggles continued~Kelly had a horrible bout with kidney stones so a great big thank you goes out to Grandma G. for coming and spending the WHOLE week to watch the kids. Hugs and kisses to grandma. I think it was some great bonding time with Matthew however. And the good news: Kelly is ready to go for tomorrow! Yippee!
- It was back to work for all of us. Took some time getting back into the swing of things. It was wonderful to be off with Brandon and the kids for a whole week during New Years.
- Basement project continues ~ the drywall mudders were here today. They were supposed to be here on Thursday but the mud was frozen (don't ask, not sure how that happened). Friday, the head guy fell on the ice, was knocked out cold and had staples put in his head. Then yesterday I think Bob was still feeling the effects of head +ice and they didn't make it. Today we got started ~ BTW ~ crack kills! LOL
- Emma got her first report card from school. Excellent report. Smarty pants is doing so well on her sight words she gets to start 1st grade reading counts. Way to go Emma! We were so proud, we took her and Grandma out for pizza Friday night.
- I got to visit my friend Katie in the hospital to welcome baby Isabelle. She is so sweet and makes Matthew look huge! Congrats to Wade, Katie, Ethan and Aidan!
Signing off!
