Smiley boy!

Ahh yes, another Friday evening. I love Fridays. There is nothing better than counting down another week til summer vacation. I must say that is the best thing about working in the schools...summer. It is just enough of a reprieve that I can go back and do it again for another school year. We ordered pizza and watched Kung Fu Panda with the surround sound and big screen. An enjoyable experience. And a good movie as well.

Matthew after his bath this week. He is now 7 months old. I took him to the dr today. He has been fighting a cold and then this morning he had green stuff instead of the usual clear drainage. Time for a trip to the dr. Sooo we are now on antibiotic for a sinus infection and ear infection. At least we caught it before the weekend!
Little man LOVES his bath. I think he knows where he is going when you start to get him undressed. Isn't he cute? Brandon has figured out there is another man in my life~true, very true.

Emma's words of wisdom for the day (yesterday).
I was working at Emma's school yesterday and there was an assembly. It was Ronald McDonald doing a 45 minute skit on friendship and the pillars of character. Anyway at one point the lesson was cooperation so the kids were divided up into three groups and had something to chant and the teachers were supposed to play air guitar. All in good fun so I participated quietly on the sidelines. After school I asked Emma what she thought of the show and she said "I saw you playing the guitar, it looked like you were playing the ukulele!"
What? The imitation of me was priceless. The sad part is that is probably the way I looked!
I was not blessed with coordination and grace.

Today
After we get home from picking up the pizza, Emma looks at her dad and says "I tricked you. I had pizza for lunch too and now I get it for supper." She turns and says to herself "I'm so smart!"
I think I should start a new column...Emma's Candor What do you think?

Party hard...ALL weekend!

Emma's grand 6th birthday weekend festivities have come to their conclusion. I must say I am relieved. A whole weekend of partying was enough for me. On Friday she took cupcakes to school and got to be birthday princess for the day. On Saturday 5 of her friends came over for a party. They had fun but 3 hours got to be a little too long as I had a couple girls in corners pouting for a minute or two. Otherwise everyone got along well - what a nice group of girls.

Eating cupcakes and ice cream

We played "pop the balloon" but the fun way - no hands or feet, only bottoms. Emma was nice and told me I couldn't play cuz I would win for sure. Thanks kid...
Today we had family over for another party. The kids love their grandparents and aunts and uncles. The basement was nice to have finished as the kids made good use of it on both days.

The highly desired MP3 player...with Hanna Montana, High School Musical and The Chipmunks in rotation.

Absolutely full of it!

The devine Miss Em will be 6 on Saturday

Emma has been in rare form the last couple days. I don't know if it is all the excitement leading up to her birthday on Saturday or what the deal is. Here are some examples:

Sunday: She goes to put her crocs on to go to Sunday school and says : "I am going to wear these anyway, even if they are crap." What? Say that again? She looked at me like ~ I know I shouldn't have said that but...

Tuesday: "Dad, I think I'm allergic to Madie."

Wednesday: I get home from town and picked up 1/2 of Emm's birthday gift, a new fish. Emma is all about animals and pets. In fact she has offered to give up Buddy to get a cat. Anyway...I decided a fish we could do. After she looks at it for awhile she says "A bunny would have been more exciting" Better love the fish honey...there is no rabbit in your future.

What?!?

OK.
I'm confused?!?
I could have sworn I didn't have a teenager in the house yet but for some reason these were the comments made in my house this morning from my almost 4 going on 14 year old daughter who woke up WAY on the wrong side of the bed! (Imagine all statements below said in the tone and inflection of a teenager!)
HELP ME!
I'm going back to bed!
I only need ONE light on!
Don't look at me!
What can I eat (for breakfast)?
I answer ceareal, oatmeal, waffle
NO, what can I EAT?!
She goes to her room comes out 2 minutes later, looks at me and says "What?"
I decided not to reprimand her for the way she was speaking...didn't know what might happen if I did?! Probably the right move since she was able to correct herself.
Is it possible for hormones to start at age 4?

Chew, chew, chew

This is a common sight at our house these days. Matthew is chewing on everything he can get his hands on. Buddy is the same way - loves to chew. Buddy also loves Matthew. He constantly wants to lie by Matthew. Just wait til Matthew figures out how to catch him! I bet that will change things!

Checklist complete

  • Framing - check
  • wiring - check
  • insullation - check
  • drywall - check
  • painting-check
  • carpeting - CHECK!

The installers came today to put the carpeting in downstairs. It turned out awesome and doesn't even feel like a basement now! The girls are down playing and enjoying every minute of it. Finish the molding and touch up the paint and we are DONE - a five year project done in 4!

Fun stuff!

This is my new buffet that Dad's friend Jerry made for me. It is really neat! I think I love it! Nothing like hand-made. Beats the store bought stuff anyday! Any ideas as to what I should put on top? I have been thinking about 2 lamps that would go on either side...suggestions welcome!

Another week gone...

Well, another crazy week has elapsed at our house. I must say thank you to Grandma R. She spent 4 days with us this week watching kids. I must say this whole stomach bug thing wasn't fun. Lasted 4-6 days in both Emma and Matthew. Wasn't rotovirus though...
Anyway...this week:

Dad and the girls made banana bread with Grandma...the girls love helping bake. I was in the basement working on finishing the staining and polyeurothane (Did I mention I HATE that job?) But the good news is we are ready for carpet...they are scheduled to install on Thursday - WooHoo!

Matthew learned how to get up on all 4's this week. He is doing the rock-a-billy...I give it 2 weeks before he is on the move. Brandon bets 1...I'll keep you posted. Matthew also had his 6 month check-up and shots. Chunky Monkey weighs 20 pounds 2 ounces. Can't believe he is that big already. Bye bye infant carrier! I really need to quit calling him that, not sure he will appreciate it later in life!

Love the warm weather. I think all of us have spring fever around here. We bundled Matthew up the other day and took him out for a walk. Emma loved riding her bike again and went flying down the hill. Matthew loved being outside. He was completely content. Madelyn was sleeping...

Help!

I need help...I keep seeing this in e-mails and have no idea what it means. I think this will probably show my age and how clueless I am. What does it mean when someone writes ~No Problem J.
~I don't get the J. Any ideas???
